Xavi Hinojosa, Terrassa (Barcelona) 1981

A los tres años le regalan una bateria de juguete. Su padre fué baterista durante sus años de juventud. Estos hechos influyen en la elección del instrumento. Con nueve años empieza a estudiar piano y solfeo en la escuela de música de su barrio y un año después su padre la da las primeras nociones de bateria. Tres años después empieza a tomar clases de la mano del maestro Aldo Caviglia. Con él, descubre el jazz y crece entonces su pasión por el intrumento. Posteriormente estudia bateria con Javier Crespo y Jo Krause.
A los 16 años ingresa en la Big Band del Conservatorio Municipal de Música de Terrassa y estudia también percusión clásica. Posteriormente asiste a las clases de conjunto intrumental de jazz que imparte Eladio Reinón en la Escuela de Música de Bellaterra y luego estudia en la Escuela superior de música de Cataluña.
En el 2005 becado por la Generalitat de Cataluña se traslada a New York donde estudia con Joe Farnsworth y participa activamentes en Jam sessions de la city.
Jazzman freelance muy solicitado colabora y graba con una extensa lista de músicos y grupos de manera regular, entre los que podemos destacar: Afinke, Dave Mitchell, Fredrik Carlquist, Jordi Berni, Jaume Llombart, Toni Solà, Dee Jay Foster, Ernesto Aurignac,Grant Sewart, Josep Mª Farras, Freddie Bryant, Mario Rossy, Susana Sheiman, Arturo Serra, Victor Correa, Michell Faber, Garry Fimister, Juan Galiardo, Gustav Lundgren, Santi de la Rubia, Marko Lohikari, Nelson Project, Karl Martin, Enrique Oliver, Eladio Reinón, Alain Guiu...

A tocado en multitud de festivales nacionales e internacionales de jazz y en la mayoria de salas y clubs dedicados al jazz del País. Ha realidado giras por Europa y América. Eurojazz festival de Mexico 2010, Festival internacional de jazz de Nicaragua 2010, Festival de jazz de Guatemala 2010, Jazzplaza internacional jazz festival de La Habana 2004, Darmstad jazz institute (Alemania, 2008), Sunset/sunside jazz club (Paris ), Pizza Express jazz club (London), Festival de jazz de Perigueux (Francia) por citar algunos.
Siempre aprendiendo de los grandes maestros, influenciado entre otros por Kenny Clarke, "Philly" Joe Jones, Roy Haynes, Mickey Roker, Kenny Washington o Joe Farnsowrth. Se enorgullece de formar parte de una generación que bebe del pasado pero con la mente abierta y visión de futuro. Conocido también por el buen ambiente y la musicalidad siempre presente, sigue siendo unos de los bateristas mas activos se su área.

At 3 years of age, Xavi received a toy drum set. His father was a drummer during his youth.This was influential in his choice of instrument. He began studying piano and harmony in his neighborhood music school at the age of 9, and a year later, his father began showing him rudimentary techniques on the drums. Three years later, he began studying with the master drummer, Aldo Cavilgia. Through him, he discovered the world of jazz, and a newfound passion for the instrument. Later, he continued his studies with Jaime Crespo, and Jo Krause.

When he was 16 , he joined the Big Band del Conservatorio Municipal de Terrassa, and also studied classical percussion. Later he attended master classes given by Eladio Reinon and also studuid in ESMUC.

In 2005, with a scholarship from the Generalitat de Cataluña, he moved to New York, where he took classes with Joe Farnsworth, and actively participated in the jazz scene there.

Now, he is enjoying his career as a freelance jazz musician, highly sought-after for concerts and recordings, playing regularly with an extensive list of musicians and groups. Among them are Afinke, Dave Mitchell, Fredrik Carlquist, Jordi Berni, Jaume Llombart, Toni Solà, Dee Jay Foster, Ernesto Aurignac, Josep Mª Farras, Freddie Bryant, Mario Rossy, Susana Sheiman, Arturo Serra, Victor Correa, Michell Faber, Garry Fimister, Juan Galiardo, Gustav Lundgren, Santi de la Rubia, Marko Lohikari, Nelson Project, Enrique Oliver, Eladio Reinón, Alain Guiu...

Played in a multitude of festivals nationally, and internationally, and appeared in the majority of major jazz clubs in Spain.

He continues his musical growth, learning from the great masters, influenced among others by "Philly" Joe Jones, Roy Haynes, Shelly Manne, Mickey Roker or Joe Fanrsworth.

Finally, he is proud to be part of a generation who honors the past, but with an open

mind and vision for the future. Known as well for his musicality, and ever present positive

attitude, he continues to be one of the most respected drummers on the Barcelona jazz scene..
